Research on our local sealife

Our wildlife guide Jenny has been making the most of her trips out on the boats this summer by not only informing and educating our passengers about the local marine life we have here in Cornwall; but she has also been photographing and recording data on the seals and dolphins that she sees on our trips. Passing this information on to organisations such as the Cornwall Seal Group and the Cornwall Wildlife Trust who put these photos into recognition software that can determine if we are seeing the same animals repeatedly. This can determine the movements of these species and help us learn more about the behaviours and migration patterns of our resident marine mammals.

Finally! Calm seas and sunshine - perfect for dolphin spotting!

So after August bringing lots of wind, rain, and rather choppy seas, we are happy to report that Mother Nature is smiling on us once again. This week we have had some wonderfully warm, sunny weather and calm seas. Not only does this make our trips that much more enjoyable, but it also makes spotting dolphins from afar that much easier. We have been lucky enough to have some wonderful encounters with both Common and Bottlenose dolphins this week, with this morning's encounter being particularly calm and clear. We could see the dolphins swimming even quite deep under the water as they swam around and under the boat. It was a very special experience for not only our passengers, but also our crew who never tire of seeing these amazing animals.
