Exciting Seal Sighting

Our wildlife guide Jenny has been taking photos of the seals and dolphins we have been spotting this summer as research for both the Cornwall Wildlife Trust and the Cornwall Seal Group. This week she photographed a very special seal on Mouls Island who, once sent to Sue at the Cornwall Seal Group, was confirmed as a female who has now been photographed at this exact spot at this time of year three years running. We believe that she makes this annual pit stop for a few weeks every year on her way to her pupping site. This is a very exciting discovery, helping us to learn more about the movements and migration patterns of our local grey seals.

Hurricane Bertha

After the tail end of Hurricane Bertha hit the Cornish coast, we have been experiencing very rough seas over the last week or so. This has limited us to the number of trips we have been able to run and where we can go, as well as causing our trips to get very bumpy and wet. But despite the warnings, our resilient passengers have gone ahead regardless, donning their waterproofs for an exhilarating soaking, and loving it! The seals have been loving the big swell and have been spotted around Seals Cave, the Gulland Island and Moles Island body surfing the waves. Although the big swell makes spotting dolphins tricky, we have been lucky enough to encounter both bottlenose and common dolphins over the last week. It looks as though the wind will be dying off from Wednesday so we should be back to our normal schedule so come join us for some wild sealife fun!
